Munroe Island (Mundrothuruthu) is a group of small islands where Ashtamudi Lake meets the Kallada River, about 25 km from Kollam town. It is named after Colonel John Munro, the British Resident of Travancore.
Life here moves with the water. The islands are laced with narrow canals, and the best way to see them is slowly, by canoe or kayak.
